Reset sa password in SQL Server

Reset sa password in SQL Server is one of the questions that is asked in a lot of forums. In this article I am going to show the steps of resetting you sa (system administrator) password. Well first of all you need to log in to the sql server using your windows authentication. Once you are logged in with windows authentication you will have full access to SQL Server. You can change your ‘sa’ password by either using GUI of Management Studio or by typing sql command. In this article you will see both ways of changing ‘sa’ password. If you want to do it by executing sql command you should type the following query.

If you want to use the GUI of Management Studio then first you need to open or expand your database in Object Explorer. Go to login which is under security in the object explorer. Find ‘sa’ user in there, right click on it and go properties. New window will open and you can change your password by typing your password on a field where says ‘Password’.
